The CAT 2021 exam is now over and the answer key is out. This article will provide an in-depth analysis of the exam and also highlights some of the changes that were made this year. If you are planning to take the CAT exam in the future, then this post is a must-read for you!

CAT 2021 was on similar lines with CAT 2020 with reduced time (2 hours), 40 minutes to each section. There was a slight difference in the number of questions in each of the section. CAT 2021 had 66 questions to solve in 2 hours with section-wise distribution as follows: -

Ø  VARC: 24 questions in 40 minutes

Ø  DILR: 20 questions in 40 minutes

Ø  QA: 22 questions in 40 minutes

The overall difficulty level for CAT 2021 was moderate.

·        VARC Analysis:-

This section was similar in lines of CAT 2020. The CAT 2021 VARC section was slight lengthy with 24 questions to solve in 40 minutes. 5 questions were Non-MCQs (Verbal). The passages were 4 in number and out of those 2 were easy to comprehend while rest 2 were quite tricky. Verbal Ability was fine and in accordance with the fixed pattern of the CAT Exam. Para-summary had tricky and close options. This was the scenario for VARC across all the slots. The VARC question-wise breakup was as follows: -

·        DILR Analysis: -

This section was also similar to the lines of CAT 2020. There were 20 questions distributed across 4 sets (4+4+6+6). The difficulty level was moderate to difficult. 2 of the sets were manageable but time consuming. Bar Charts were purely Data-Interpretation based and were doable. 3 sets were time consuming. ·        QA Analysis: -

The level of difficulty for this section was easy-moderate and was in similar lines to the level of CAT 2019. There were 22 questions to be solved in the time limit of 40 minutes. The section had 8 non-MCQs. This time too Arithmetic was one dominant topic in the section. The question wise break-up was as follows: -
